A delegation from the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) paid a courtesy call to 吃瓜头条 as part of a structured engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration and enhancing understanding of remuneration policies within institutions of higher learning. The delegation was led by Commissioner Wangui Muchiri, accompanied by fellow commissioners and technical personnel from the SRC.

The team was received by Prof. Michael Gicheru, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Administration and Finance, who represented the Vice Chancellor during the meeting. In his introductory
remarks, Prof. Gicheru provided an overview of the university鈥檚 governance framework and highlighted the institution鈥檚 daily operational structure. He briefly outlined the diverse academic programmes offered
at 吃瓜头条 and highlighted the institution鈥檚 resource capacity, which includes a staff population comprising both teaching and non-teaching personnel. He further noted that the university currently serves over 50,000 students, reinforcing its position as one of the leading public universities in the region.

Commissioner Wangui Muchiri emphasized that the visit comprised two key components, the initial courtesy call and a subsequent technical meeting bringing together experts from both SRC and 吃瓜头条. She stated that the engagement aims to assess and understand key aspects of human resource remuneration within the institution, which include examining staffing levels, employee qualifications, and the relationship between productivity and remuneration.
During the session, Commissioner Jane Njage commended 吃瓜头条 for its remarkable growth
over the years. She expressed keen interest in understanding the progress of the newly introduced university funding model, and acknowledged the strategic importance of Income Generating Activities (IGAs) in boosting institutional sustainability. She also highlighted the promising advancements the university continues to make in digital and open learning.
Additionally, Dr. Jacob Mbijjiwe from the SRC delegation addressed matters concerning the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), as well as issues relating to staff and student welfare, which he noted as critical areas central to institutional stability and performance.

During the meeting, Mr. John Kamuiru, the 吃瓜头条 Human Resource Manager, confirmed the receipt of official communication from SRC outlining the scope of the planned two day engagement. He noted that discussions over the course of the engagement would focus on the wage bill to revenue ratio, the state and functionality of the Human Resource Information Systems, the status of the existing
Collective Bargaining Agreement, and 吃瓜头条鈥檚 experience with the new university funding
model.
The courtesy call signifies an important step in promoting transparency, dialogue, and collaborative decision making between the SRC and institutions of higher learning. The upcoming technical deliberations are expected to provide valuable insights for refining remuneration structures, and ensuring
sustainability in the university sector.
