INTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT
The University invites applications from staff who are suitably qualified with outstanding academic/professional qualifications and relevant experience for the following position:
NATIONAL PHYTOTHERAPEUTICS RESEARCH CENTRE (NPRC)
1. STORE KEEPER GRADE A/B
Duties and responsibilities of a Store Keeper will entail: –
a. Maintain accurate, up-to-date, computerized records of stock levels, receipts and withdrawals of laboratory items,
b. Perform regular physical inventory audits and cycle counts to reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and digital records.
c. Monitor stock levels and reorder supplies when items reach minimum levels, ensuring an uninterrupted supply for researchers.
d. Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotes, technical specifications and ensure timely procurement of chemicals and equipment.
e. Ensure proper storage conditions for diverse materials (e.g., flammable solvents, radioactive materials, chemicals requiring refrigeration) in accordance with safety standards.
f. Issue reagents, equipment and lab consumables to authorized researchers and students, properly recording all transactions.
g. Ensure all materials are stored according to specifications in the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and laboratory safety protocols.
h. Coordinate with staff and researchers to ensure timely accessibility of laboratory materials.
i. Keep a computerized inventory of all equipment accessories and spare-parts
Qualifications and Experience
a. Applicants must have at least KCSE C (plain) and above or equivalent
b. Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology (Chemistry/Biology/Physics) from a registered and recognized Institution
c. At least three years relevant experience.
d. Good Communication Skills in English and Kiswahili
e. Possession of a training certificate in any of the following will be an added advantage: Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) or ISO/IEC 17025:2017
f. Be familiar with lab equipment, chemical nomenclature, GHS and shelf-life management.
g. Computer Literate
