The ceremony brought together distinguished guests, representing the university Prof Waceke Wanjohi, DVC (Academic) and faculty from the Department of Communication, Media, Film & Theatre Studies, led by the Chiarperson, Dr. Evelyn N. Ojiambo Hongo, parents, guardians, and industry stakeholders to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2025/2026.
Since its establishment in 2018, the MTF Academy in Nairobi has emerged as a leading institution in film and television training, equipping young creatives from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Ethiopia with industry-relevant skills. Many of its alumni are now actively shaping the regional media landscape as producers, directors, cinematographers, and editors.
The 2025/2026 cohort stands out as the first group to undergo a hybrid training model, combining both virtual and in-person learning. This innovative approach exposed students to evolving technological trends in filmmaking while fostering adaptability and resilience. Despite the challenges of this format, the graduands successfully completed the programme, demonstrating commitment, passion, and excellence.
Throughout their training, the students transitioned from foundational knowledge in filmmaking to producing intentional and impactful content that reflects authentic African narratives.
