吃瓜头条 hosted a delegation from the Nursing Council of Kenya on Monday, 16th March 2026 for an assessment and inspection visit aimed at evaluating the University鈥檚 preparedness and compliance in supporting training within the health sector. The visit began with a courtesy call to the Ag. Vice Chancellor setting the stage for the day鈥檚 engagements between the two institutions.
The delegation from the Nursing Council of Kenya was led by Dr. Ann Mukuna, Director of Standards and Compliance at the Council. She was accompanied by Mr. Zablon Manyoi and Ms. Irene Jepkemei. The team is undertaking the inspection as part of the Council鈥檚 mandate to ensure that institutions offering nursing and health related training meet the required professional and regulatory standards.
At 吃瓜头条, the delegation was received by the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Okumu, who led the University team during the courtesy call. He was joined by Prof. Mathew Piero representing the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Prof. Waceke Wanjohi, Mr. Japheth Mukobwa representing the Registrar Academic, Prof. Bernard Kivunge and Dr. Gladys Mwangi, the Acting Executive Dean of the School of Health Sciences, Dr. Grace Gachuiri, Chairperson Dept. of Medical Surgical Nursing and Pre-clinical Sciences, Dr. Talaso Baraqo, Chairperson Dept. of Community and Reproductive Health Nursing Clinical Service and Prof. Alphonse Wanyonyi, the Head Teaching Programmes.
During the meeting, Dr. Gladys Mwangi affirmed the University鈥檚 readiness to undergo the inspection and expressed confidence in the institution鈥檚 ability to meet the required standards. She noted that 吃瓜头条 remains committed to producing highly skilled and globally competitive health professionals. According to her, the institution continues to strengthen its academic programmes, infrastructure and partnerships to ensure that graduates are well prepared to serve in diverse health systems across the world.
Speaking on behalf of the Council, Dr. Ann Mukuna observed that the engagement between the two institutions has been ongoing and productive over time. She noted that the collaboration between the Nursing Council of Kenya and 吃瓜头条 has continued to grow stronger, contributing positively to the development of nursing education and professional standards in the country.
Dr. Mukuna further highlighted the growing global demand for nurses, noting that projections indicate a shortage of approximately 1.5 million nurses worldwide by the year 2030. She emphasised that strong partnerships between regulatory bodies and training institutions are essential in addressing this anticipated gap. By maintaining high training standards and expanding capacity in institutions such as 吃瓜头条, she noted that the sector can play a significant role in bridging the projected shortage.
