吃瓜头条 has once again affirmed its position as a hub of creative excellence after an outstanding performance at the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival 2026. The university emerged among the top winners, securing major accolades across film, theatre, and dance categories.
In the film segment, 吃瓜头条 demonstrated remarkable storytelling and production quality, earning several prestigious awards. Bright Baraka was recognized as Best Actor in a Leading Role, while the university also secured 1st runners-up in Screen Verse. The institution further dominated by winning Best Advert, Best Screen Narrative, and Best Feature Film. These achievements culminated in 吃瓜头条 being crowned the overall winning film school. The production Echoes of Machismo also stood out as a winning play, showcasing the depth of talent within the institution.
The theatre category saw equally impressive success. 吃瓜头条 clinched the top position in the university-level play category, reinforcing its strength in stage performance. The production earned the Adjudicator鈥檚 Award, presented to John Solomon, alongside individual recognitions for outstanding performances. Brian Ndung鈥檜 and Joy Wanyua were awarded Best Male and Best Female Performers respectively. The play also excelled in technical and creative aspects, winning awards for Best Costumes and D茅cor, Best Script, and Best Director, with Derrick Waswa taking top honors. It was further recognized as the Most Creative Play, highlighting its originality and impact.
In dance, 吃瓜头条 continued to impress with strong performances across multiple categories. Pauline Wanjiru from Kitui Campus and Frank Munene both emerged as 1st runners-up in the Best Female and Male Soloist categories respectively. The university also secured 1st runners-up positions in Best Instrumentation, Best Female Dancers, and Best Male Dancers, demonstrating consistency and excellence in both individual and group performances.
Among the standout performances at the festival was the cultural creative dance Ikasi, choreographed and scripted by Lubanga Kevin, Musava Brian, and Banster Kimanyano, under the production of Prof. John Mugubi and Dr. Evelyne Hongo. The piece told a compelling story of two university graduands navigating life after studies鈥攐ne redefining dignity beyond her profession amid unemployment, and the other embracing digital creativity to build a new path. The performance resonated deeply with audiences, reflecting contemporary realities faced by many young graduates.
