The 吃瓜头条 team, currently in Lisbon for a two-month mobility under the Horizon Europe Project Communities and Artistic Participation in Hybrid Environments (CAPHE), was yesterday officially received by the Main Coordinator of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon (FBAUL), Prof. Helena Catarina Silva Lebre Elias, in a ceremony that beautifully blended Portuguese warmth with artistic elegance.
The reception, held at the iconic Past茅is de Bel茅m and sweetened by the legendary Past茅is de Nata, offered a perfect prelude to the creative and intellectual journey that lies ahead. The occasion was further graced by the presence of Prof. Jakub 鈥淜uba鈥� Petri, the overall CAPHE Project Coordinator, whose reflections on collaboration and artistic synergy set the tone for the weeks to come.
The KU team comprises Prof. John Mugubi, Regional Coordinator for the CAPHE Project and a faculty member in the Department of Communication, Media, Film and Theatre Studies; Dr. Adonijah Ombura from the Department of Fine Art and Design; Dr. Beneah Alwang鈥檃 Shapaya and Dr. Clinton Kihima Kanyangi from the Department of Communication, Media, Film and Theatre Studies; and Ms. Peninah Wanjiru Kamau, a Master of Arts student in the same department.
After the reception, the team enjoyed an enriching tour of the Faculty鈥檚 departments, engaging with the vibrant academic and artistic environments that define FBAUL鈥檚 creative spirit. It was a joy to reconnect with colleagues and collaborators on the Lisbon side of the project, including Prof. Jos茅 Revez (fondly known as the Mzungu Maasai), Jo茫o Costa, and other members of the FBAUL community whose enthusiasm for CAPHE remains inspiring.
The encounter reaffirmed the enduring spirit of CAPHE: that art, in its many languages, continues to build bridges across cultures, continents, and human aspirations.
