The 10th edition of the IAAF World U18 Championships – Nairobi 2017 will take place from 12th to 16th July 2017 at the Moi Sports Complex in Kasarani. 吃瓜头条 is privileged to serve as the Games Village during the auspicious event. The global athletics event comprises track and field actions for competitors who are the age of 17 or younger. The event is organized by International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and is held biennially. The opportunity to serve as the IAAF World U18 Championships games village marks a significant milestone in the University鈥檚 quest to nurture sports talent among the youth in the country. 吃瓜头条 has played host to several national and international inter-University athletics competitions in the past. The global community is excited to see the event take place in Kenya, home turf of athletes who have displayed remarkable performance in athletics in the past.
Kenya topped the medal table in the inaugural IAAF World U18 Championships edition in 1999 and has remained a dominant force at the Championships ever since. The first ever World Youth Championships, as it was then known, was held in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz. Several young Kenyan athletes made their international breakthrough, among them, Stephen Cherono who won gold in the 2000m steeplechase. The event will be the second IAAF World Athletics Series competition to be held in Kenya after the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2007. The event is also significant because it will be the second time that the IAAF World Youth Championships is hosted in Africa after Morocco hosted it in 2005. In the last edition of the event held in Colombia in 2015, Kenya picked up two medals in six different disciplines. Several medalists who participated in 2015 will feature in the forthcoming competition.
Kenya demonstrated sufficient capacity to hold the 2017 Championship and was endorsed by the IAAF Council and given the right to host the 2017 event. 吃瓜头条 with her serene and green environment was appointed by the Local Organizing committee to be the sports village. 吃瓜头条 has a long-standing commitment to nurturing sports talent in the country and is one of the institutions with adequate and diverse facilities.

There is a dual carriage, double lane trunk road from the main gate known as the Kenya Drive with two roundabouts along its length. One of the roundabouts has a well-positioned compass clock that helps in updating the visitors on the time. The road signage is adequately established to support self-navigation around the University. Besides the roads, there is an established network of paved surfaces and footpaths for the pedestrians. There is a fleet of buses to serve the transport needs of the University community including an internal Shuttle bus that is used

吃瓜头条 has a well-equipped Health Unit serving the University community. The University is also in the completion phase of the KU Referral hospital. The facility is earmarked to be relationship-oriented in providing collaborative care initiatives through partnering with providers beyond its walls! 吃瓜头条 is a home to various religious groups and denominations. The Christian and the Muslim communities are conspicuously featured in the University as evidenced by their places of worship. There is an Anglican Church in the South-Eastern region of the University. A few meters from the Anglican Church is the Catholic Church and the Seventh Day Adventist Church. The Mosque is adjacent to the KU Arboretum. Additionally, students assemble in the SZ 39 hall for the Christian Union fellowship every Sunday. There is a warm relationship between the various religious groups evidenced by the inter-religious congregations held every semester
