  1. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH MANAGEMENT AND INFORMATICS

1.1 SENIOR LECTURER

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. An earned PhD degree or equivalent in Health Information Management or a related field from an accredited and recognized university
  2. Master’s Degree in Health Information Management or a related field from an accredited and recognized university
  3. At least three (3) years of teaching/research experience at the university level as a Lecturer
  4. Accumulated at least six equivalent publication points as a Lecturer
  5. Supervised at least four (4) postgraduate students as a Lecturer.
  6. Evidence of applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as Lecturer.
  7. Evidence of good quality teaching.
  8. Evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops
  9. Been registered by the Health Records and Information Managers Board

 

1.2 LECTURERS

SPECIALIZATIONS:

  • Health Information Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. An earned PhD degree in Health Information Management or a related field from an accredited and recognized university
  2. Masters Degree in Health Information Management or a related field from an accredited and recognized university
  3. At least four (4) years teaching experience at university level

  2. A Bachelor’s Degree in Health Records and Information Management or a related field from an accredited and recognized university
  3. Four equivalent publication points;
  4. Evidence of good quality teaching.
  5. Been registered by the Health Records and Information Managers Board

 

  • Health Management
  1. An earned Master’s degree or equivalent in Health Management or related field from an accredited and recognized university

1.4 LABORATORY TECHNICIAN GRADE C/D

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A Degree in Health Records and Information Management or a related field from an accredited and recognized university
  2. Been registered by the Health Records and Information Managers Board
  3. Demonstrable competencies in Managing a Health Records and Information Skills Lab

 

  1. DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY MEDICINE, COMMUNITY HEALTH AND EPIDEMIOLOGY

2.1 LECTURER IN FAMILY MEDICINE

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Academic MBChB or equivalent degree from a recognized university
  2. Postgraduate Master of Medicine (MMed) in Family Medicine from a recognized institution
  3. Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC)
  4. Recognized as a Specialist in Family Medicine by KMPDC.
  5. At least 2 years’ experience in practice as a family physician.
  6. Having at least one (1) year experience working in administrative position in health sector.

Duties:

  1. Teach MBChB and MMed students
  2. Supervise clinical rotations and research
  3. Participate in curriculum development and assessment.

 

  1. DEPARTMENT OF MEDICAL PHYSIOLOGY

3.1 TECHNICIAN GRADE A/B

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Diploma in Medical Physiology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
  2. Demonstrated foundational training in physiological laboratory procedures
  3. Registration with relevant professional regulatory body (where applicable)

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support teaching of undergraduate medical physiology practical sessions
  2. Prepare laboratory materials, reagents, and specimens
  3. Source and organize materials for student practicals
  4. Assist in setup and conduct of laboratory sessions
  5. Maintain cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the laboratory

Skills and Competencies

  1. Basic laboratory management and organizational skills
  2. Competence in computer and laboratory technologies
  3. Ability to follow SOPs and safety protocols

  3. Registration with relevant professional regulatory body

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct physiological experiments for undergraduate and postgraduate students
  2. Manage laboratory teaching schedules and logistics
  3. Oversee lab operations and equipment readiness
  4. Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment
  5. Support research activities

Skills and Competencies

  1. Strong laboratory management skills
  2. High proficiency in ICT for teaching and research

  1. Master of Science (MSc) in Medical Physiology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
  2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in teaching, research, and service in medical physiology laboratory
  3. Registration with relevant professional regulatory body

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide technical leadership
  2. Supervise and mentor junior staff
  3. Design and oversee laboratory protocols
  4. Support and participate in research
  5. Ensure quality assurance and regulatory compliance
  6. Contribute to departmental planning and resource management

  1. DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY

4.1 ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR – OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY

Qualifications and Experience

  1. PhD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or a related discipline from a recognized university
    OR
  2. Master of Medicine (MMed) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with recognized subspecialty Fellowship training considered equivalent to a PhD in accordance with CUE guidelines and Senate approval
  3. Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) with a valid practicing license
  4. Minimum of 6 years of university teaching experience, including at least 3 years at the rank of Senior Lecturer or equivalent
  5. Evidence of postgraduate supervision to completion, including:
  • At least 2 PhD students and 3 Master’s students OR
  • At least 10 Master’s students
  1. Minimum of 32 publication points in peer-reviewed journals, including at least 3 publications since last promotion
  2. Contribution to scholarly book chapters or academic publications
  3. Evidence of successful attraction of research funding or development resources
  4. Demonstrated academic leadership, mentorship, and contribution to university governance
  5. Evidence of community engagement and professional service

Expected Responsibilities

  1. Teach undergraduate and postgraduate medical students
  2. Supervise Master’s and PhD students
  3. Conduct independent and collaborative research leading to peer-reviewed publications
  4. Provide academic leadership within the department and school
  5. Participate in curriculum development, program review, and academic innovation
  6. Provide specialist clinical services in affiliated teaching hospitals
  7. Participate in departmental, faculty, and university governance structures
  8. Mentor junior academic staff and trainees
  9. Contribute to research capacity building within the department

4.2. LECTURER – OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Master of Medicine (MMed) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or equivalent specialist qualification from a recognized university
  2. Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) with a valid practicing license
  3. Evidence of at least two publications in refereed scholarly journals
    OR One refereed journal publication and one scholarly book chapter
  4. Demonstrated potential for academic research and postgraduate training
  5. Evidence of continuous professional development, including:
  • Participation in academic conferences
  • Research presentations
  • Clinical teaching activities
  • Academic workshops
  1. Demonstrated commitment to pursuing a PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification

Expected Responsibilities

  1. Teach undergraduate and postgraduate medical students
  2. Participate in clinical teaching and supervision of trainees
  3. Conduct research and publish scholarly work
  4. Participate in curriculum development and academic activities
  5. Provide clinical services in affiliated teaching hospitals
  6. Participate in departmental academic programs and professional development activities

4.3 TECHNICIAN GRADE A/B– CLINICAL SKILLS LABORATORY / TEACHING LABORATORY SUPPORT

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Diploma in:
  • Medical Laboratory Science
  • Biomedical Technology
  • Clinical Medicine
  • Biomedical Sciences
  • Or another related health sciences field
  1. Relevant professional registration where applicable
  2. Experience supporting clinical skills laboratories, simulation laboratories, or medical training laboratories is an added advantage

Expected Responsibilities

  1. Support clinical skills training and practical teaching sessions
  2. Prepare and maintain teaching equipment, models, and simulation materials
  3. Assist academic staff during demonstrations and laboratory sessions
  4. Maintain laboratory inventory and equipment records
  5. Ensure safety standards and proper functioning of laboratory equipment
  6. Provide technical support during clinical skills training sessions.

TERMS OF SERVICE:

A competitive remuneration package, which includes basic salary, house allowance, and medical cover as per the University Scheme, will be provided.

Tutorial Fellows are employed on one (1) year renewable contract up to a maximum of three (3)Ìýyears.
