Programme Title: Master of Records and Archives Administration
Introduction Records and archives management is a discipline within the main discipline of information science focusing on the management of records and archives in a variety of formats. The Master of Science in Records and Archives Management provides education and training to recordkeeping professionals empowering students with the requisite knowledge and skills in records and archives management.  Students will learn to manage, organize, interpret and provide access to a wide range of records and archives. The degree also focuses on contemporary issues related to the management of records in paper and electronic formats.
Programme objectives The objectives of the program are to train professional who:

·         Have the necessary knowledge, attitudes and skills requisite for effective records management

·         Have the ability to apply ICTs in their practice of the profession.

·         Have entrepreneurial skills so that they are able to create jobs for themselves and others.

Justification / Rationale Records and archives are key to effective public service delivery, good governance, accountability, and transparency in modern society. The master trains a professional with theoretical knowledge and skills in records and archives management through teaching, research and publication in the discipline and produces graduates capable of managing records and archives in both public and private sectors for social-economic and political development.
Entry Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Records and Archives Management or any other information related degree course from a recognized institution and attained Second Class Honours (Upper Division).

Bachelor’s  degree  in Records and Archives Management or  any other information related degree course from a recognized institution and attained Second Class (Lower Division) with 1 (one) year relevant work experience.
