Introduction:
The global shift in the orientation of pharmacy practice from a traditional product-centered model to a more patient-centered approach has significantly increased the demand for pharmacists equipped with advanced clinical skills. Pharmacists are no longer confined to the preparation and dispensing of medications; they now play a critical role in direct patient care, particularly in medication therapy management, optimization of pharmacological treatments, and the provision of preventive health services. This evolving role demands a new cadre of pharmacy professionals who possess specialized clinical expertise to address complex patient needs, promote health and wellness, prevent disease, and contribute meaningfully to interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
In response to this paradigm shift, there is a compelling need to develop and strengthen academic programs that can produce highly skilled clinical pharmacy specialists. A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Clinical Pharmacy is particularly essential to meet this need. Such a program will not only cultivate advanced research competencies and critical thinking skills among pharmacists but also foster innovation in clinical practice, education, and policy development. Graduates of the PhD program will be poised to lead in the design and implementation of evidence-based interventions, improve medication-related outcomes, and contribute to the global advancement of clinical pharmacy practice.

Programme Objectives: 
The program aims to train pharmacists with an advanced understanding of pharmacotherapy and patient care. Upon completion of the PhD program, graduates will be able to:
•    Conduct independent, original research in clinical pharmacy and pharmacotherapy.
•    Translate research findings into practice and policy for better patient outcomes.
•    Lead in clinical pharmacy education, mentoring, and curriculum development.
•    Develop and evaluate interventions aimed at optimizing medication use and improving health outcomes.
•    Advocate for the integration of clinical pharmacy services within health systems.

Rationale
The increasing complexity of pharmacotherapy and the growing burden of chronic diseases demand advanced clinical decision-making and research expertise. A PhD in Clinical Pharmacy will:

Entry Requirements:
A holder of a Master of Science in Pharmacology, Molecular Pharmacology, or Pharmacology and Toxicology, a Master of Clinical Pharmacy, a Master of Medicine, a Master of Dental Surgery, a Master of Science in Nursing, a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), and a Master of Veterinary Medicine from an institution recognized by the Senate of ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ.

Mode and Structure of Delivery
The programme shall be offered by blended learning comprising of mentored research, seminars and presentations.

Programme Duration
The programme duration shall be at least 3 years

Curriculum Highlights
