Programme Objectives
- To apply innovation, creative and decision-making skills to analyze agricultural resource markets and environmental impact assessment.
- To adopt hands-on skills to classify agricultural resources and develop management practices.
- To apply analytical and information and communications technology skills to solve agricultural resources problems within the changing environments.
- To demonstrate results-orientation and communication skills in formulating agricultural resources management policies and innovations.
Justification/Rationale
Appropriate management of agricultural resources is critical for achieving food security, development goals, natural and transboundary security, and sustainability of the resources and livelihoods. Agricultural resources are variable. However, there is a global, regional and domestic shortage of competent personnel specifically trained to management the agricultural resources. The Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Resource Management is meant to train and nurture students to acquire the requisite capacities and competencies in agricultural resource management.
Entry Requirements
- Candidates must have passed with a mean grade of听C+听(plus) at KCSE or equivalent.
- In addition, the student must have obtained a minimum of听C+听(plus) or equivalent in Biology/Biological sciences and any two (2) of the following subjects: Chemistry, Agriculture, Geography, and Physical Science/Physics.
- In addition, candidates must have obtained Grade听C听(plain) in Mathematics at KSCE or equivalent OR mean grade of C (plain) at KCSE with a Diploma of at least a Credit pass in a relevant field of study from a recognized institution, OR,
- At least two (2) Principals and one (1) Subsidiary in science subjects with a Principal pass in biology at KACE (A-level) or its equivalent.
- Students can also transfer from other Institutions or Departments to the University on Credit transfer provided they meet the minimum admission requirements by the 吃瓜头条 Senate.
Mode and structure of delivery
The mode of delivery will be by face to face, virtual and open learning, and blended learning.
