The programme accords every student with opportunities to acquire knowledge, values, attitudes, commitment, and skills needed to protect and improve the environment requisite in the creation of patterns of behavior among individuals, groups, and society as a whole towards the environment and sustainable development.
Rationale of the Programme
Environment is a dynamic entity but often perturbed by human activities.Ìý The need to monitor environmental perturbations and understand role of society in environment and sustainable development necessitates periodic revision of Bachelor of Science (Environmental Education and Sustainability) program. This is in realization that highly trained manpower is critical in the implementation of Agenda 21, The Sustainable Development Goals, The Constitution (2010), provisions Environmental Management and Coordination Act (1999) – amended (2015), and other sectoral Acts capturing aspects of environmental sciences.

Our graduates find employment in a wide range of organisations in both the private, NGO and public sectors. Career paths for Environmental Education & sustainability include but not limited to the following: i) Environmental education coordinator, ii) Environmental educator, iii) Park educator/park interpreter/naturalist, iv) Outdoor education instructor, v) Faith based and Community organizations as a Sustainability educator to promote sustainable practices and raising awareness about environmental issues, vi) Environmental curriculum developer, vi) Environmental researcher, vii) Environmental policy analyst and viii) Environmental consultant. Majority of our graduates are certified and licensed EIA Lead Experts with the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA), and many others have made successful careers as local and global consultants in environmental education and other related disciplines.
