RATIONALE
Emerging complex psychosocial issues such as family breakdown, pandemics, personal and interpersonal conflicts, substance use and abuse, characterize the contemporary society. In addition, Kenya has a large youth population that is struggling to earn a livelihood as unemployment continues to soar.
This has led to an increase in psychological and social problems and an increasing demand for mental health services. However, there is a significant treatment gap whereby the majority of individuals who need treatment do not receive it (Kazdin, 2017) as mental health workers are very few.
The Kenya Mental Health Policy 2015-2030 states that over and above the general shortage of skilled mental health professionals, there are internal inequities in the distribution of these already low numbers of mental health workers, whereby the available professionals are concentrated in cities and teaching hospitals, while rural areas are left with far fewer professionals.
These inadequate human resources are recognized as one of the key barriers to effective provision of psychological health services. The policy states that Kenya must urgently address the enormous mental health problems affecting its population by addressing the acute shortage of skilled mental health personnel.
The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, of 吃瓜头条 was reviewed in recognition of this need. There is therefore the need to equip individuals with relevant skills in psychology and the social sciences to address these issues.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
a. 聽 聽Mean grade C+ (plus) at KCSE or equivalent. In addition, a student should have at least C- (minus) in English and D+ (plus) in Mathematics (subject bridging from a recognized institution is accepted). Or
b. 聽 聽Mean grade of C (plain) with a diploma (passed with credit) in any field of study from a recognized institution of higher learning; Or
c. 聽 聽Mean grade C- (minus) followed by a certificate from a recognized Institution and a
diploma (passed with credit) in any field of study from a recognized institution of higher learning.

MODE OF ASSESSMENT
For each unit offered there will be Final Examination (70%) and Continuous Assessment (30%). The final grading will be as follows: A = 70% and above; B = 60-69; C = 50-59; D = 40-49; Fail =
0 鈥� 39.
COMPULSORY UNITS
University Common Units as guided by the school. Students taking BA general will take three units in first year, four units in second year, and four, six, eight or twelve units in third and fourth year depending on the degree pattern that they choose. Students taking BA psychology will be expected to take all the units in the four years of study. Research Project (equivalent to 2
Units) will be done in two semesters to give students adequate time to complete their projects.
