Introduction

Established in 2007 the Mechanical Engineering program was introduced to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute effectively to various industries, including manufacturing, energy, transportation, and healthcare. Entry Requirements
A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the programme if they have attained a minimum mean grade of C+ in KCSE with a minimum of C+ in the cluster subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Geograohy/Biology).
Credit transfers into the B.Sc. (Mechanical Engineering) programme are governed by the following regulations:
National Diploma holders in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent programmes from recognized institutions will be accepted as follows:
- Higher Diploma or equivalent: A candidate with at least a credit pass in the Higher Diploma shall be eligible for admission into the programme.A qualified higher diploma applicant shall normally be admitted into the third year of study, or given equivalent credit transfers.
- Basic University Diploma or Ordinary Diploma or Equivalent: A candidate with at least a credit pass in the Ordinary Diploma or University Basic Diploma (lasting at least 3 academic years) and who in additional had attained at least a C (Plain) for mean aggregate and C+ (Plus) in Mathematics and Physics at the KCSE shall be eligible for admission into the programme. A qualified diploma applicant shall normally be admitted in to the second year of study or given equivalent credit transfers.

Programme Duration
The duration of study for BSc. Mechanical Engineering extends for five (5) academic years. Throughout the course of study, a candidate is required to take 16 units in any given year of study. A semester shall consist of 16 weeks and the teaching hours for each course will be 56 hours. To qualify for the award of the degree, the candidate should have passed not less than 80 units plus industrial attachment units.
