The Access to Information Policy reflects the University’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of transparency, ethical conduct, and public accountability. As a key public institution of higher learning in Kenya, its operations, decisions, and management systems are required to be open to the scrutiny of its clients, stakeholders, the government, and the wider public for the benefit of transparency.

In order to fulfil the vision, “To be a dynamic, inclusive and globally competitive centre of excellence in the provision of quality education, training and research for sustainable development,” efficiency, openness, responsiveness, and administrative justice must define its daily service delivery. Unlawful withholding of information or arbitrary non-disclosure undermines public trust, erodes institutional credibility, and conflicts with its core responsibilities. The University therefore expects all members of staff acting on its behalf to proactively facilitate information disclosure and conduct official business with utmost honesty, clarity, and professionalism.

It is my hope and expectation that this Policy will serve as an authoritative and clear guide for all staff members, students, partners, and external stakeholders. By codifying our institutional access to information processes, the fundamental right of access to information will be integrated seamlessly into the University’s service culture, fostering an environment of institutional integrity and academic excellence.
